New & Notes Interview
I'm a fan of NPR's News and Notes, so I was particularly excited to talk to them about The Great Negro Plot. My only regret was missing the lovely Farai Chideya.
Very cool interview. I always bristle at the term Historical Fiction though. If there's one thing I notice about historical fiction, like The Other Boleyn Girl, as opposed to say, Beloved, is that historical fiction never confronts history.
The man in the picture is the author of Drop, Hunting in Harlem, The Great Negro Plot, Incognegro, and Pym. At times he has been known as The Mullah of Mulattos. He is seven feet tall, conks his facial hair with lye, and wears a belt buckle made from the skull of Iceberg Slim.

I especially like the part about "narrative strategies" and the fact that fiction writers are equipped to deal with history. Nice job, man.
Soon the N in NPR will stand for niggerati!
well we must be old school writers because literary and historical fiction from us is a dying breed . nice blog
